History of Bliss Travel
Bliss Travel literally opened on a "wing and a prayer" May 16, 1986. Mary Pat Bliss, a travel consultant
for 14 years, and husband Richard Bliss mutually agreed to begin a new chapter in their lives. As Richard had just
been "involuntarily" retired from International Harvester, it was indeed a major decision and risk. Our first office
was 1212 Slate Run Road, an older home, newly rennovated by Richard. Five years later, a newly rennovated office
space, by Richard, at 1611 East Market was our next location. With expanded business and additional staff, the location was ideal.
Oct 31, 2005 we opened at our current location, 1614 E. Spring, The 80 year old building, carefully restored and updated, is ideally
suited for all of our current and future needs. |

Mary Pat Bliss
Owner
Mary Pat Bliss was born and raised in New Albany. She has worked in the
travel business since 1973. She established Bliss Travel May 16, 1986.
International travel planning is her expertise. She feels fortunate to have had
the opportunity to visit many parts of the world including Ireland, England,
France, Germany, Australia, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Russia and
China.

Knable is a native of Southern Indiana and a graduate of Associated Travel
School in North Miami Beach Florida with a degree in Travel and Tourism. She has also earned her Certified Travel
Counselor “CTC” designation from the Institute of Certified Travel Agents. After graduating she began working in
corporate travel where she has remained for the past 17 years. Since joining the
staff here at Bliss Travel Joanne has earned her certified specialists
